A path following a steep slope which climbs up the mountain until you arrive at this glacial lake at an altitude of more than 1,000 meters, which marks the starting point of the walks up to the Altas Cumbres and the Sendero del Cielo viewing point. It is possible to walk right around the lake and the lookout points along the way provide you with spectacular views of Lake Ranco and the Cerro Mayo. The name “Pitreño” means “eye of water” in the native lenguage of the Huilliche.
